How to Write Prompts That Generate Better Results

The difference between a mediocre generation and a stunning one is almost always in the prompt. After analyzing thousands of successful generations, these are the patterns that actually work.

1. Be Specific About Anatomy and Pose

Vague prompts like 'beautiful woman' produce generic results. Instead, describe the exact pose, body angle, and limb positions. 'Woman kneeling, torso turned three-quarters toward camera, left arm resting on thigh' gives the model a clear structure to follow.

\u2717 Weak:

"beautiful sexy woman"

\u2713 Strong:

"photorealistic portrait of a woman in her late 20s, kneeling on a bed, torso turned 45 degrees toward camera, soft morning light from window left, detailed skin texture, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field"

2. Control Lighting Like a Photographer

Lighting is what separates amateur from professional content. Specify the direction, quality, and color of light. 'Soft window light from left' creates flattering modeling; 'harsh neon from above' creates drama. Time of day matters too: golden hour (sunset) produces warm tones that flatter skin.

  • Soft/diffused light: flattering, minimizes imperfections
  • Hard/directional light: dramatic, emphasizes texture
  • Backlight: silhouettes, mood
  • Overhead light: unflattering, avoid for portraits

3. Specify the Photographic Style

The model needs to know what 'camera' it's using. Mention lens type, aperture, and post-processing style. '85mm f/1.4' produces creamy bokeh and flattering compression for portraits. '35mm f/8' keeps everything in focus for full scenes.

4. For Videos: Describe the Motion

Video generation needs explicit motion instructions. Describe what moves, how, and at what speed. 'Slow orbital camera movement around subject' works better than 'video of woman'. Also specify what should NOT move to avoid warping.

Video prompt structure:

  • Subject + starting pose
  • Action/movement (specific verb)
  • Camera movement
  • Movement duration
  • Static elements (do not move)

5. Common Mistakes That Ruin Generations

Too many subjects

Each additional person doubles the chance of broken anatomy. Start with one.

Hands in foreground

Hands are the model's weak point. Keep them simple, partially hidden, or out of focus.

Contradictions

'Standing' and 'lying down' in the same prompt confuse the model. One pose per prompt.

Mixed styles

Don't mix 'photorealistic' with 'anime' or 'painting'. Pick one style and stick to it.

6. Advanced Techniques

Weight by order: Words at the start of the prompt carry more weight. Put the most important first: subject, pose, lighting, style, details.

Implicit negatives: Instead of saying what you don't want, describe what you do want precisely. 'Smooth clean skin' works better than 'no imperfections'.

Smart iteration: When a result is close but not perfect, change only one variable at a time. If the pose is right but lighting isn't, adjust only the lighting description.
